Driving Lessons

driving-lessonsLearning to drive defensively, is our #1 goal for our students. At the Ocean Driving School, we reinforce this to our students on every lesson. With good driving habits and techniques, students will become more confident and be better prepared for the ICBC Road Test.

Every student is unique; Ocean Driving School will design an effective plan for each student focusing on their ideal learning style. We strive to meet our students goals for taking driving lessons; becoming excellent drivers and success for the ICBC Road Test.

60 MINUTE LESSONS

Our standard driving lessons are 60 minutes(1 hours) and this provides ample time to prepare for each lesson, on road practical driving practice and a debrief and summary at the end of each lesson.

ROAD TEST PRE ASSESSMENT/PREP

For drivers that are getting ready to take their road test, we offer a pre assessment and prep lesson. We provide instructions in car to observe the student drive and an additional time to review, discuss and offer recommendations in preparation for their road test.

ROAD TEST PACKAGE

Students wishing to complete the ICBC Road Test can do so in a Ocean Driving School car for added familiarity and confidence. We really feel this is a great addition to our lessons and would be strongly recommended for our students.

We provide our vehicle and an instructor on your test day. This provides pick up and drop off service in Surrey Area, a warm-up drive to ICBC, mental prep before test at ICBC, taking the road test, and drive back home.

Defensive Driving

At the Ocean Driving School, we strive to teach defensive driving techniques to develop more confident drivers. Learning to avoid crashes is our #1 priority. Drivers are at risk from other vehicles, wildlife, weather conditions, pedestrians, cyclists and other hazards.

Some of the defensive driving items we cover:

Observation:

The most critical part of defensive driving is your observation skills. Where & how to look and what things to look out for.

Safe following distances:

Maintaining a safe distance gives drivers a better chance of avoiding crashes

Scans & Shoulder Checks:

Drivers are more confident when they develop the skills to assess situations on the road.

Stale Green lights & Point of no Return:

Intersections are high crash areas. Learning how to navigate intersections is critical to good driving.

Communication:

Learning to communicate with our drivers, road users and pedestrians is a very important skill in driving
